Positions Overview

The Dashboard is your home base — it opens first and is where you watch every position you hold. The top of the screen sums up your account and your day; below it, a live table (or cards, on a phone) lists each position with its P&L, Greeks, and legs, updating in real time as the market moves.

This article is a tour of that screen: the summary bar, the positions list, how to read a single position at a glance, and how to filter, sort, and act on what you see.

The Daily Summary

The Daily Summary card sits at the top of the Dashboard and answers the two questions you ask most often: how is my account doing and how is today going.

The first row is your account: Account Value, Buying Power, Maint. Margin, and Excess Liquidity. The second row breaks down the day's performance across every position:

  • Net P&L — your bottom line for the day, after commissions.
  • Cur. Capture — net P&L as a percentage of the premium you took in.
  • Gross P&L, Realized, and Unrealized — total profit before costs, the part already locked in from closed legs, and the part still moving on open legs.
  • Commission, Premium, Remaining, and Mkt Value — costs paid, premium collected, premium still at risk, and the current market value of what you hold.
  • Rlzd. Capture and Delta (Δ) — realized profit as a share of premium, and your net directional exposure.

Green means positive, red means negative, so you can read the whole row at a glance.

Tip

The eye icon in the top-right corner of the Daily Summary hides your account balances — handy when you are sharing your screen or trading in public. Your choice is remembered on this device.

Your positions

Below the summary is the Active Positions list — "Open and pending trading positions." On a desktop it is a full table; on a phone it collapses to a stack of cards showing the same information in a narrower layout. Both update live, so P&L and prices tick as the market moves without you refreshing anything.

The Active Positions table on the Dashboard

Each row (or card) is one position. Selecting it opens the Position Details sheet, where you can inspect every leg, its Greeks, and its automation rules — see Position details.

Reading a position at a glance

Every position is a combination of one or more option legs, and the table shows them stacked in the first column. Each leg is a compact badge:

  • A C (green) or P (red) tag for call or put, followed by the strike.
  • A signed quantity — green and positive when you are long, red and negative when you are short.
  • A small status letter: O open, C closed, P pending, R rolled, E expired, X cancelled.

So a two-leg credit spread reads at a glance as one short leg and one long leg, and you can see instantly which legs are still working.

The remaining columns tell you how the position is doing:

  • Open Time and SPX Open — when you entered and where the underlying was at entry.
  • Qty and Entry Price — size and the price you opened at.
  • Bid / Mid / Ask — the live market on the position right now.
  • Realized, Unrealized, and Total P&L — profit locked in, profit still moving, and the two combined (with a percentage).
  • Delta — the position's current directional exposure.
  • POP and P50 — the probability of finishing profitable and the median expected profit at expiration. When a position has closed legs, a second rem line shows the figure for just the legs still open.
  • Commission and Status.

Filtering and sorting

The controls above the table narrow the list to what you care about:

  • All / Credit / Debit — filter by whether the position took in premium or paid it out.
  • All / Open / Closed — filter by status. Choosing Open reveals a second row of All / Full / Partial so you can separate fully-open positions from ones where some legs have already closed.
  • Filter by date — pick a day to review positions opened on that date; the small clears it and returns you to today.

Whenever a filter is active, a compact summary strip appears at the top of the list — "Selected: N positions" — totalling Net P&L, Gross P&L, Realized, Unrealized, Commission, Premium, Remaining, Market Value, Capture, and the aggregate Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Theta) for just the positions you filtered to.

Click any of the sortable column headers — Open Time, Realized, Unrealized, Total P&L, or Delta — to sort by it; click again to reverse the order.

Acting on a position

The menu at the end of each row (or a right-click / long-press anywhere on the row) opens that position's actions. For an open position you can:

  • Close at Market or Close with Peg — exit the whole position.
  • Risk Profile — open the position's payoff and risk view.
  • Split Position… or Expire Position….

A position that is still filling shows Cancel Position instead. Full details of opening, closing, splitting, expiring, and the bulk Close All control live in Opening and closing positions.

At the top of the list you'll also find Add Manual — for recording a position you opened elsewhere — and Close All, which exits every position currently shown by the filter. To automate a single position with rules instead of acting by hand, see Position rules.

Warning

Closing, splitting, and expiring place real orders against your account. Check your trading mode before you act, and never submit test orders while you are in live mode.
